The European Inspection and Certification Company (Eurocert) announced the establishment of Armed Maritime Security Operators (AMSO) to prevent pirates’ attacks in ships sailing in international waters. AMSO is the first institution established in Greece that will train and award certification to those working or are willing to work as armed guards to protect ships from pirates.

The participants that pass the two-stages examination will be awarded a professional AMSO certificate as well as the Europass certificate, certifying their capability to guard ships and prevent piracy incidents.

The announcement was made during an event at the Piraeus Marine Club where the first graduates received their certificates.
